Facundo Newbery and Lia Zuvilivia are two Argentinean artists that have been living and working in Williamsburg Brooklyn, NY for the past four years.
Lia Zuvilivia explores the combination of crude found objects and glass. Lia builds boxes and uses them to display calligraphic compositions of layered glass and found objects selected with a poetic touch in which she will arrange industrial leftovers as if they were flowers, crossing the line between sculpture and drawing, waste and beauty. Using shadow, light and line in a variety of mediums - canvas, paper, video, books and sculpture, her hermetic metaphors prove her to be a sensitive craftsman and poet. Her works have been shown in Argentina, France, Germany and New York.

For this exhibition, Facundo Newbery makes diptychs using steel and the wall they hang on as co-dependents. With a minimal effort of composition, he uses the wall not only as a support but also as a medium, showing the relationship between the paintings and the wall. Once the painting is hung, the wall is changed, and with no wall there is no need for painting. In a way, he aims at the dual meaning of the verb ``to be" (to be a.. & to be at..).
Facundo works in a wide variety of mediums usually speculating on the ambiguous nature of everything.
Facundo's body of work includes an ongoing series called Permanent Shadows Paintings. This group of work has taken place in numerous cities (London, New York, Berlin, Amsterdam, San Francisco, Paris, Buenos Aires and Windsor, England). By outlining the shadows of fixed street objects with chalk or washable paint, the series takes into consideration the temporary quality of painting with the permanency of shadows. Again, location and time , and the study of the verb `to be' is the focus of these enigmatic paintings.

Mine Metal/Art Gallery is located on Grand St.@ Bedford Ave, in the hub of Williamsburg_s Gallery District. The gallery's focus is to show the metals arts in its broadest definition. MINE metal / art exhibits the work of artists, designers, jewelers and craftsmen/women who use metal, either wholly or in tandem with other materials. Clearly the goal of the gallery is to mix things up a bit‹showing anything from blacksmithing to bottle openers, bronze castings to brooches‹and in so doing, keep things fresh and break down some antiquated borders. MINE metal / art Gallery officially opened in August of 2002 with a group show of Tallix Foundry Artists Sculpture. To date MINE has had an Artist Chair Show, a Lighting Design Show, a Kinetic Sculpture Show and a solo show of Scott Irvine Photographs. Future shows, changing regularly, will include solo and group exhibitions featuring a wide scope of work and a variety of themes.
